COLUMBIA — The Columbia College women’s volleyball team improved to 2-0 in pool play of the 2012 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Volleyball National Championships with a 3-1 victory over Madonna University.
The Cougars won the first set 25-23, the second set 25-18 and wrapped up the win with a 25-21 fourth set. The Crusaders snagged their lone set win in the third by a slim margin of 25-23.
The Cougars, who are the third overall seed in the tournament, are now 39-1 on the year. Madonna fell to 34-9 on the season and 0-2 in pool play with the loss.
Kahoriz Feliz led the Cougars in kills with 20. Brooke Simpson contributed 12 kills and 14 digs. Paula Ferreira had a match-high 50 assists and Elena Berroteran led the way with 21 digs.
The Cougars’ final pool play match is tomorrow. They will face Oklahoma Baptist University, who is ranked No. 10, at 3:15 p.m. in Sioux City, Iowa.
