Casper Star-Tribune: Wyoming Athletics Beat Writer (May 2016 to present) — Covers University of Wyoming sports for Wyoming’s statewide paper.

Deadspin: Contributor (April 2016) — Contributed an article on polyphasic sleep to Deadspin‘s Adequate Man vertical.

Jefferson City News Tribune: Mizzou Beat Writer (May 2014 to April 2016) — Covered University of Missouri sports for Missouri’s capital city newspaper. Also contributed prep-sport coverage.

BBC Radio: Contributor (Nov. 2015) — Contributed reports on racial unrest at Mizzou for BBC Radio’s ‘Newsday’ program.

Columbia Missourian: Features Sports Beat Reporter (Jan. 2014 to May 2014) — Variety of coverage for Missourian sports section, including long-form features. Reported breaking-news stories during Michael Sam announcement and Sasha Menu Courey case.

Reynolds Journalism Institute: Researcher and Developer (Jan. 2014 to May 2014) — Worked with Reynolds Journalism Institute fellow Chris Shipley to create a platform, tentatively titled Newsroom140, that allows newsrooms to more easily report, verify and publish via Twitter.

Vox Magazine: Contributing Writer (Sept. 2013 to Oct. 2013) — Contributed lead article to Vox’s award-winning ‘Field Notes’ feature.

The Argentina Independent: Reporter (Jan. 2013 to May 2013) — Contributed features, reviews, daily news briefs and photographs, reported in Spanish and written in English. Completed while studying abroad in Buenos Aires during the Spring 2013 semester.

Columbia Missourian: Sports Reporter (Aug. 2012 to Dec. 2012) — Provided upward of two articles a week to the Missourian sports section. Worked general assignment shifts. Covered Rock Bridge High School football beat and Rock Bridge and Fr. Tolton high school basketball beats.

Inside Columbia Magazine: Contributing Writer (May 2012 to Aug. 2012) — Wrote various articles, reviews and previews for the magazine in addition to fact checking and intern duties. Contributed to the Tiger Town brochure published for the 2013 football season.

MOVE Magazine: Editor (Dec. 2011 to May 2012) — Oversaw every aspect of MOVE Magazine, the weekly entertainment magazine of The Maneater, including story ideation and assignment, editing, page layout, social media management and promotion, among others.

Mizzou Sportswriting Promotion Association: Co-Founder (Jan. 2011 – May 2011) — Cooperated with Missouri School of Journalism to help start MSPA. Also worked as the NCAA basketball editor and copy editor.

The Maneater: Copy Editor, Pop Culture Columnist, Podcaster, Staff Writer (Sept. 2010 to May 2012) — Worked various positions for the University of Missouri’s student newspaper throughout first four semesters at the University of Missouri. As copy editor, worked one four-hour shift a week editing stories for The Maneater’s Friday issues. Alternate copy editor in Spring 2011 semester.

KOMU-TV: Friday Night Fever reporter (Fall 2010) — Assisted with high school football TV coverage for KOMU, the NBC affiliate of Columbia, Mo.

The Prowl: Editor-in-chief (Aug. 2009 to May 2010) — Was responsible for managing all editors and writers of Oakville High School’s student newspaper, in edition to making  executive decisions and writing three articles per issue. Also designed and organized center-spreads. In 2008-2009 school year, worked as a staff writer for The Prowl.

Urban Pioneer: Convergence Reporter (July 2009) — Contributed one print story and one broadcast story to the Urban Pioneer as part of the Missouri Urban Journalism Workshop, a 10-day camp sponsored by the Dow Jones Newspaper Fund.

Difference Makers Magazine: Contributing Writer (Spring 2009) — Submitted two sports articles to the local high school sports magazine.

Research Experience

Major League Baseball (Sept. 2013 to Oct. 2013) — Researched MLB players’ backgrounds for a study conducted by Dr. Scott Brooks. 35 hours worth of research was completed.

Education

Missouri School of Journalism (Aug. 2010 to May 2014) — Graduated with Cum Laude honors from the University of Missouri in Columbia in May 2014. Majored in Print and Digital News with an emphasis in Sports Journalism and minors in Spanish, Film Studies and Multicultural Studies.

Universidad Austral (Jan. 2013 to May 2013) — Studied Argentine literature while spending a semester in Buenos Aires through the MU Journalism Abroad program.

Oakville High School (Aug. 2006 to May 2010) — Graduated as a valedictorian with a 4.0 GPA while taking honors courses and earning letters in marching/symphonic band (trumpet) and varsity tennis.

Volunteer Experience

True/False Film Fest: Hospitality Volunteer (February 2014 to March 2014) — Helped check in filmmakers and other guests of the film festival as well as driving guests via shuttle service.

DD Farm Animal Sanctuary  (March 2014) — Helped feed rescued animals and worked on various projects around the farm.

Work Experience

Jimmy John’s: Delivery Driver (June 2012 to January 2014) — Works as delivery driver in locations in Oakville and Columbia, Mo., in addition to performing in-shop duties.

Steak ‘n’ Shake: Waiter (June 2010 to Aug. 2011) — Waited tables and made the occasional milkshake at the Lindbergh location in St. Louis.
